    • Viewing & discussion of the operatic version of Ophelia's madness and death scene from Ambroise Thomas. If you were absent, please watch the scenes. We talked about the differences between the opera version and what happens in the text.

  • AP Exam Practice
    • Today we discussed the AP English Lit exam set up (see notes here) and spent an hour taking a full multiple choice section of the AP Lit exam. We briefly discussed the free response section of the AP exam as well. If you were absent, see me ASAP to take your m/c. This is for a grade and will be the basis of our review over the next few weeks. Our AP test is Wed., May 9.
  • HW due Tues. 3/27/18: Make sure you have read and annotated Hamlet, Act IV, scene 5 completely.

    • TEST: Series 5 background videos
    • Discussion / Q&A: Act IV, scene 4
    • In-class assignment: Analyze Hamlet's 4th soliloquy (Act IV, scene 4). First, paraphrase the soliloquy in your text, then find phrases that 
        • are similar to lines in previous soliloquies (quote both)
        • are opposite to lines in previous soliloquies (quote both)
        • could use clarification / explanation
        • demonstrate an intriguing use of figurative language 
        • motifs that are emerging in Hamlet's thoughts
        • express extreme emotions
      • Quote and comment on at least two of these observations on the Padlet I have created (1B) (4B), making sure you do not duplicate other posts. Read through the other posts and ♡ the ones you like best!
    • HW due Fri. 3/23/18: Read and annotate IV, 5. Focus on the characterization of Ophelia.
